Does anyone have any suggestions on ocr technology and automating workflows?
I currently work at a company where I have to check passports. A lot of passports. We have pdfs of the information we are supposed to be checking (pic 3), and I must enter that information into the online screening at worldcheck.refinitiv.com (pic 1). It then looks like pic 2. I must check these passports every year, and there are thousands of them. The person before me entered them manually, by hand.
I have improved upon it a lot, but every way I can make this process shorter by even 5 seconds saves me hours.
My current process –
ocr scan the name from the pdf (first and last) via capture2text press ctrl v to paste into the name box hit gender button tab twice enter day / tab enter month / tab enter year / tab enter first two letters of country (autofills) tab x3 (most passports are like this) paste full name into given name ctrl backspace to delete last name(s) tab ctrl v to paste whole name into last name home button then ctrl + shift + arrows to select first name(s) delete first names + tab first two letters + tab enter identification number ocr expiration date hit shortcut to check the world check box tab + enter to finish the screen
total entering process takes about 30-60 seconds per person.
What I would like to happen, if possible, is to ocr the whole page, and have those names and dates entered automatically, or with as few button strokes as necessary.
I am wondering if there is any software or way to get around this? I am not super skilled in coding either.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
